Expository Preaching - The preaching at our church is expository preaching. The pastor preaches verse by verse through books of the Bible. Occasionally topical sermons are preached that address a particular need in the life of the church, but the typical Sunday consists of sermons that are part of a series through books of the Bible.
Traditional Worship - The worship services are traditional. While we are not opposed to singing new songs (provided they are songs of substance), we primarily sing older hymns in our services. We believe that the great hymns of the faith are a wonderful heritage that has been given to us, and we do not want that heritage to be lost.
Elder-Led - We are an elder-led church. We believe the biblical model is for elders to provide spiritual leadership for the church. We currently have two elders, including the pastor (Acts 14:21-23, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4).
Church Discipline - We believe in the biblical practice of church discipline. Members of the church are accountable to one another, and we are committed to following the steps given in Matthew 18, including removal from membership if it becomes necessary (Matthew 18:15-20, 1 Corinthians5:1-13, Galatians 6:1, 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15).
Discipleship of Children and Youth - We believe that God has given the primary responsibility for the spiritual upbringing of children to their parents (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Ephesians 6:4). Our approach to children's and youth ministry is to equip parents to disciple their children. The parents meet together periodically for times of prayer, mutual encouragement, and discussion of issues related to raising children in a biblical manner. We have a Bible study class for the children on Sunday morning which uses Desiring God children's curriculum. We also encourage children and youth to take part in a summer Bible camp that our church is involved with. We seek not to isolate the children and youth from the rest of the body but to involve them in the normal life and activity of the church.
